Do you want to contribute to a more humane society for everyone? At Västerås City Mission, we work for this every day. With great commitment, a willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to create a better Västerås for all, we meet hundreds of people each week who seek our support in our eight operations.

We are currently looking for substitute workers for our open meeting place at Sturegatan 22. Here we meet people who are experiencing homelessness, harmful use and addiction, or mental health issues.

In our daily work, we meet about 60 people every open day. We cook and serve food, distribute clothes, and assist with practical matters such as making phone calls, accompanying people to meetings with healthcare and social services, filling out forms, and more. Sorting clothes, laundry, and cleaning are also part of our daily tasks.

This is a workplace with an environment that can sometimes be tough and chaotic, but it is also a place for life's joys, laughter, and great gratitude. We place great importance on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who is confident, responsible, and willing to meet people where they are. An important part of our work is to create a good relationship and security for those we meet. We do this through respectful interaction and on the individual's own terms.

We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule who can step in regularly, often at short notice, to cover for potential sick leave and vacations. Perhaps you are retired, studying remotely, or taking individual courses?

The meeting place is open weekdays from 08:00 to 15:00, and Saturdays from 09:00 to 13:00.

We are also looking for someone who can work nights at our women's shelter, which is open seven days a week from 19:00 to 07:30.
